Fallujah Clearance and Reconstruction Work Underway

JumpStart International has restarted work in Fallujah on March 5th, and as of today, March 26th, a total of 27 houses are in the process of being cleared or rebuilt.

The workforce is rather small, about 160, but the work is going well and the people of the Fallujah neighborhoods, in which we are operating, are very appreciative of JumpStart's work. JumpStart aims to help them recover from the damages, which the fighting has wrought to their homes and their community.

There is enough need in Fallujah for housing reconstruction to employ at least 3,000 or so workers. Unfortunately, JumpStart doesn't yet have any significant funding support at this time for the work in Fallujah, so we are still unable to grow our staff to that level.

Throughout Fallujah, JumpStart workers are approaching homeowners whose houses are in the worst condition from the fighting.

In some cases, no walls are left standing.

While it is back-breaking work, it is cost effective and relatively inexpensive to recycle all the building materials.

The metal "sheesh" in particular saves the homeowner a lot of money when the building is reconstructed.
