    Rafah Road Rehabilitation Work Continues

    Working in conjunction with Rafah municipality, JumpStart workers are continuing their work to repair 500 meters of damaged roadways in the center of Rafah by the end of May.  

    Damage to the road's surface area creates hazards for pedestrians and vehicles alike

    Work advances at Gaza Polytechnic Institute

    Renovation work at the Gaza Polytechnic Institute is advancing with all the roofs now completed on the existing buildings.

     

    Floor tiles in two of the buildings have been installed and workers are laying the remainder of the tiles in the other two buildings.

    Preliminary plumbing and electrical work has been installed and new ceramic tiles are going up on a number of the interior walls.

     

    1,254 job opportunity days were created in April at the Gaza polytechnic institute site

    Interior Renovations in Progress at Beit Hanoun Terminal

    With the roof of the Beit Hanoun terminal now completely restored, JumpStart workers are focusing on the interior renovations. Over the past 2 weeks, JumpStart workers have repaired the restroom doors, installed new fixtures, replaced damaged toilets and mended the drainage system outside the terminal. Workers are now beginning to paint approximately 4000 sq. meters of the terminal interior.

    Work Expands in Rafah

    A new crew of 40 workers is continuing the clean up work in Rafah. Beginning in May, the clean up crew is also doing repair work on a number of the roads they are cleaning.

    Several local roads through town are made of interlocking concrete blocks, many of which have been damaged and due to the Municipality’s lack of funds, they are unable to be repaired.

    An additional 10 workers have been added for the duration of the project, increasing the 825 days of work generated in April through this project.
