The renovations on the four existing buildings have begun at the Gaza Polytechnic Institute in Khan Younis. Following the completion of the new cement roof and support columns on the cafeteria, JumpStart workers are now beginning renovations inside the buildings.

Many of the interior walls of the buildings have been badly damaged by winter rains and looting by area residents.

JumpStart workers are now beginning the repair and reconstruction work required on a number of the destroyed walls in the interior of the buildings.

The school is located on a former Israeli settlement close to the Mediterranean Sea in Southern Gaza. When completed, the school will serve as a two-year technical college providing highly advanced technological training and equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue employment in technology related fields.

Over the past few weeks JumpStart workers have been completing preliminary work on the interior of the Beit Hanoun terminal. Wall cracks have been repaired, wire mesh screening cleaned, restroom doors replaced, and faulty wiring removed.

With the preparatory phase of work complete, workers are now busy repairing the terminal roof. Roof panels made of corrugated tin have been badly damaged as a result of Israeli gunfire. The destroyed panels are being removed and new panels installed.

The length of the roof is a graphic display of the repeated bombardments sustained by the terminal during Israeli military activity in the area.

In the coming weeks JumpStart workers will be busy restoring the plumbing and electrical facilities, installing new floor tiles and painting the interior of the terminal.
Restoring the Beit Hanoun terminal will not only improve access for people crossing to and from Gaza, but will establish a humane and sanitary environment, provide a positive image to those crossing, and generate employment and income for local residents.
