JumpStart International is a humanitarian organization committed to creating positive change in some of the most challenging places on earth.
Without income and work, families cannot earn a living and provide for the basic needs of their children. JumpStart International was founded in 2003 with a strong, but simple vision of helping people help themselves. JumpStart served as a catalyst to initiate the process of assisting Iraqis to rebuild their communities through a labor-stimulus program which implemented hundreds of clearance and reconstruction projects that provided visible signs of progress, homes, income, and hope for thousands of Iraqis.
Following the Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip, JumpStart focused our efforts toward addressing the immediate needs in Palestine for employment and reconstruction where years of ongoing conflict and strangling economic conditions have devastated communities. We implemented small-infrastructure public works projects to revitalize communities and spearheaded the development of Gaza Polytechnic Institute to build institutional capacity to meet Gaza's long-term need for vocational and technical education.
JumpStart is now working in Jordan to support at-risk youth and displaced Iraqis through service-learning and training programs designed to equip participants with relevant transferable skills that will enable them to lead productive lives, continue their education, and build livelihoods as their displaced status is reolved.
JumpStart is also expanding our outreach to the Dominican Republic to participate in the immediate recovery efforts to help rebuild homes, livelihoods, and services devastated by Tropical Storm Noel.
