JumpStart International is glad to announce that Adam Budzanowski, our Gaza country director, has been released and is in good spirits. Mr. Budzanowski was kidnapped by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in response to the Israeli charge of the Jericho prison. Adam Budzanowski has been JumpStart's country director in Gaza since December and is committed to continuing the organization's efforts in the area. JumpStart is in Gaza to implement cleaning and clearing, and public works projects that stimulate employment, training, and economic development.
Gaza has an unemployment rate that exceeds 60 percent, and JumpStart's hope is to provide employment opportunities and training for Palestinians. JumpStart is currently evaluating projects and is poised to begin working, when the organization receives a license to operate as an International NGO. Some of the projects include the building of a technological institute, reconstruction of the Beit Hanoun Crossing, and beautification projects in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza strip.
