Fallujah Reconstruction

Work restarted in Fallujah on March 5th, 2005, and as of 26 March, a total of 27 houses are in the process of being cleared or rebuilt. The work force is still rather small, about 160 workers, but the work is going well and the people of Fallujah, in the neighborhoods we are working, are very appreciative of JumpStart's work in helping them recover from the damage which the fighting has wrought to their homes and their community.

  • Conditions
    Throughout Fallujah, JumpStart workers are approaching homeowners whose houses are in the worst condition from the fighting.
  • Walls
    In some cases, no walls are left standing.
  • Recycling

    While it is back-breaking work, it is cost effective and relatively inexpensive to recycle all the building materials.

  • "Sheesh"

    The metal "sheesh" in particular saves the homeowner a lot of money when the building is reconstructed.

  • Bricks

    Workers, chipping away at the bricks to separate them so they can be relaid.

  • Reconstructed

    A building partially reconstructed by JumpStart.
